The Campaign for Wool

Monday, November 7th, 2011

LoveMyDog uses only pure virgin wool for its genuine Harris Tweed dog fashion lines and is proud to be a brand supporter of The Campaign for Wool. Fellow brand supporters include Selfridges, World of Woolcraft and Vivienne Westwood.

The Campaign for Wool was initiated in October 2008 by His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales, who had observed that the wool industry was facing enormous and unprecedented challenges. The price of wool had plummeted to the point where farmers were being paid less for their sheeps’ fleeces than the cost of having them shorn.

At the same time, sheep numbers were declining across the world, from Britain to Australia and New Zealand, and some farmers were losing confidence in the future of the wool industry.

A parallel threat came from new man-made synthetic fibres, often oil-based, which were providing stiff competition in the areas where wool had traditionally triumphed – fashion, carpets and insulation.

And what would the environmental implications be? Wool is one of the most environmentally friendly and sustainable of fibres. At a time when concerns about landfills occupy us all, why on earth were we turning our backs on wool?

These were the issues which provoked the HRH the Prince of Wales into convening a meeting over dinner at Clarence House with a diverse group of stakeholders with a connection to wool – from sheep experts to wool marketeers, wool traders to fashion designers and carpet manufacturers.

Say hello to Charlie

Monday, October 31st, 2011

This month we enjoyed a visit from Charlie. She’s a gorgeous Bichon Frise with bags of star quality. (Rabbit was really rather smitten). Her owners couldn’t decide between the Rivington (bottom right) or the Hartwist Collection (top left) so they left with both and a Wilmot Sweater as well.

Say hello to Rocco

Monday, October 3rd, 2011

Just my cup of tea! I love it when other dogs pop in to the studio, especially when they’re as cute as my pal Rocco. He’s so tiny that Lilly has a special coat pattern just for him. Here he is in Appleby hat, coat and carrier from the new LoveMyDog A/W collection. In the other photo he’s wearing his fave Wilmot dog sweater in the new Sidworth pet carrier. Great to see you Rocco. Love Rabbit.

Photography day for the new LoveMyDog A/W collections

Wednesday, September 14th, 2011

High stress at the studio – it’s the shoot for the new A/W11 collections. Don’t get snappy (geddit!) – it’s only a few photos. What do you mean, it’s so much more than a few photos. Love Rabbit

Top trend-spotters visit the LoveMyDog studio

Tuesday, September 6th, 2011

My new best friend: Heloisa, Editor of Interiors/Homebuildlife from WGSN came to visit the studio and gave me a big hug. WGSN is the world’s biggest online trend-analysis and research service for the fashion industry. Apparently canine couture like ours is ultra-hip, and they came to see how we stay cutting edge. Heloisa – I’m in love. Yours forever, Rabbit.

Winston’s Visit To The LoveMyDog Studio!

Thursday, September 1st, 2011

Winston came in to the LoveMyDog studio

Winston the gorgeous black pug came in to the LoveMyDog studio and left with the Hoxton Tartan Harris Tweed Pet carrier. Winston has problems with his back legs and cant walk for long so he was snug as a bug in the carrier. He’d never been in a pet carrier before and just settled in straight away. Rabbit had a play with him and was very sad when he left! We love this picture that his owner sent us.
The Hoxton Tartan Harris Tweed Pet Carrier is available online from 16th September.

Cats and Dogs show at Unit 24

Monday, July 11th, 2011

Cats and Dogs is a show that juxtaposes different ways of looking at art objects and their subjects.

Relationships between people are very complicated. Many of us discover that pets make not only great companions but can also make substitutes for human relationships. They are also a great inspiration for artists. Art lovers and pet lovers are invited to examine these differences along with VIPS (very important pets).

This July, Unit 24 invited a group of international artists who simply believe that pets are fascinating to take part in their Cats and Dogs exhibition.

Unit 24 is both a hyper-modern, completely minimalist space, just three minutes from the great Tate, and a functional dry cleaning business. You can go there to collect your spotless cleaning but in fact this is an art gallery of deliciously ironic and serious intent.

Unit 24 hopes the show will entertain and create a good pet friendly atmosphere and provide a look at art from different levels. A sense of humor and some critical skills are highly recommended.

Love My Dog’s Creative Director Lilly Shahravesh attended the private view on the 6th July with the Love My Dog studio muse, Rabbit. A Love My Dog blanket and lead worth £110 was given to the most handsome dog of the night. It was a tough choice but Monty, a Battersea Rescue dog with a great smile pictured below, was the happy ‘canine couture’ winner.

If you fancy visiting the Unit 24 cats and Dogs show with your own VIP, it is running until the 29th July.

Participating Artists: Peggy Atherton, Roelof Bakker, Kevin Berlin, Eli Chojak-Mysko, Helen Gougeon, Michal Torzecki, Kevin Wayne

Unit 24 Gallery
20 Great Guildford St
London
SE1 0FD

7-29th July
Open Monday-Friday
11.00-18.00

Introducing the Thornby Collection

Wednesday, July 6th, 2011

We know you love your dog. We also know that many of you love tweed. So we imagine that our new Thornby collection will be quite a hit. Especially when it’s woven in Scotland with yarn spun from the wool of the Cheviot sheeps.

The brand new Thornby collection from Love My Dog not only looks fantastic. It is also both Teflon coated and stain resistant (this traditional tweed is backed with soft washable suede). It’s available to purchase now and you can accessorize your pooch with the matching dog lead, blanket, bed and the Thornby designer dog coat which is also available in this tweed cloth.

The entire Thornby Collection can be viewed in our online shop.
