Rabbit's ready for the London rain
What’s up with the weather at the moment? One minute it’s sunny and the next it’s raining cats and dogs. At least with his Elwin Quilted dog coat, Rabbit’s ready for the rain and will look dashing in any downpour.

Corgis spotted at Selfridges

Sunday, May 13th, 2012

Has one mislaid one’s dogs?

These lifesize corgis have been spotted in Selfridges recently, complete with headscarves and pearls. We’re not sure if they’re there to celebrate the upcoming Queen’s Jubilee or if they just happen share Rabbit’s love of designer shopping. Either way they look fab. Perhaps we should roll out a limited edition Royal Collection this year?

Ashleigh and Pudsey win BGT

Sunday, May 13th, 2012

Congratulations goes to Ashleigh Butler and her pooch Pudsey who will receive £500,000 after winning Britain’s Got Talent 2012.

They perfumed a new trick routine to the Mission Impossible theme track which Simon Cowell described as one of favourite acts ever, “You know how much I love dogs. I adore both of you Ashleigh and Pudsey. You’ve got better and better. What you’ve done is such a short time is a miracle.”

Comedian David Walliams, who has a puppy named Bert, said ‘I can’t believe you’ve come out here and done another new act. The nation has fallen in love with you and Pudsey.’

17 year old Ashleigh is due to sit her AS Levels next week and we wish her the best of luck. Oh, and if she fancies training Rabbit ready for next year, then our studio door is always open to her. And Pudsey of course!

Upper Crufts

Wednesday, May 9th, 2012

We love Wednesday’s at the studio because we get to read our favourite weekly Stylist Magazine. This morning’s coffee break was made all the more special as the latest edition of the fashion mag featured LoveMyDog in their inspirational ‘Style List’ buys for the week.

Our Appleby collection, with its contemporary herringbone pattern, is perfect for both for town and country canines. It also feels incredibly soft and smooth as it’s hand-crafted from genuine Harris Tweed. The Appleby Collection includes a matching dog collar, lead and dog coat, as well as a dog bed, blanket and pet carrier.

Stylist featured the Appleby coat and dog hat in their Style List saying: Upper Crufts “A Harris Tweed coat and deerstalker give walkies a gentlemanly air”

Comfy fabrics

Wednesday, May 2nd, 2012

As a working studio there’s always lots going on at LoveMyDog but recently it would seem we have a new designer on our hands/paws. Rabbit, the studio muse, finds the fabrics we use so comfortable that he keeps making a bed out of the offcuts from the cutting table! His designs are slowly improving but if your pooch is after a bed (we use springy thermo-regulating filling for outstanding comfort) we would suggest that you try one of these luxury dog beds for now.

Meet Charlie, the longest-standing resident at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home

Monday, April 30th, 2012

A dog with impeccable manners is searching for a new home, after becoming the longest-standing resident at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.

Charlie the Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross has been at Battersea for 560 days today. Most Staffies take just 63 days to find a home, but Charlie has now been waiting longer than any other dog.

However three year old Charlie is such a friendly, loving and polite dog, that no one understands why he hasn’t caught a new owner’s eye. To give him a break from kennel life, Charlie is currently staying with Battersea dog fosterer Hollie Oppe, who describes him as “a true doggy gentleman”. She says: “He really is a very polite, loving dog and he really shines at home. At dinner time he waits in his bed until I put his bowl down and invite him over. He is always excitable to go outside, but he walks politely alongside me, and sits when we get to the end of the road. When we get back home he just wants to lie down for a snooze.”

Sadly Charlie has not always received such care and attention. He arrived at Battersea after being dumped at the charity’s gates in October 2010. Charlie was abandoned with a white Staffie, and staff traced their owner via the other dog’s microchip. The owner explained she had recently given the dogs away, and while she decided to take the Staffie back, she no longer wanted Charlie.

Over a year later, and Charlie is still waiting for someone to choose him. As he loves being with people he didn’t enjoy life in kennels, and often came across as over excited, leading many potential owners to walk past him. However he has now proven he is a true gent at home.

Hollie adds: “As well as being polite, he trains well, has been house trained since day one, and travels very well on public transport. He can even be left alone for up to four hours quite happily. He has all the tools to be a brilliant pet for someone, but has been overlooked until now. He really deserves to find a new home, as he will make someone very happy.”

Charlie would be content living in any location and is looking for an owner with some experience of dogs. He may be able to live with teenage children. While he likes other dogs he would prefer to be the only dog in the house, and isn’t a fan of cats.

If you are interested in rehoming Charlie, please contact Battersea’s Rehoming team on 020 7627 9234 or email rehoming@battersea.org.uk.

What’s it like to be a dog toy?

Thursday, April 26th, 2012

We love this beautiful video that shows a dog having fun with his toy at the beach. Rabbit would certainly like to see a bit of sun at the moment but at least his collection of dog macs are keeping him dry during these April showers.

The video was created by Beep Show in San Fransisco. The music is by Monsters and Men with the track appropriately titled ‘Dirty Paws’.
