Collars & Coats – Nov 11th

Tuesday, November 8th, 2011

In the presence of Prince Michael of Kent, GCVO, President of the Home, The Collars & Coats gala ball is an unforgettable night of glitz and glamour that raises funds for Battersea Dogs & Cats home. This years event takes place on Friday, with Status Quo and Lulu taking to the stage, and Peter Andre hosting the evening.

To date Battersea Dogs & Cats Home has cared for over 3.1million dogs and cats and has survived through some of the best, and worst, of times. LoveMyDog is proud to support this wonderful event and features in the roll of honour alongside brands such as Alexander McQueen, Mulberry and Vivienne Westwood.

You can find out more about the event here and even bid on items during the event’s auction here.

The Campaign for Wool

Monday, November 7th, 2011

LoveMyDog uses only pure virgin wool for its genuine Harris Tweed dog fashion lines and is proud to be a brand supporter of The Campaign for Wool. Fellow brand supporters include Selfridges, World of Woolcraft and Vivienne Westwood.

The Campaign for Wool was initiated in October 2008 by His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales, who had observed that the wool industry was facing enormous and unprecedented challenges. The price of wool had plummeted to the point where farmers were being paid less for their sheeps’ fleeces than the cost of having them shorn.

At the same time, sheep numbers were declining across the world, from Britain to Australia and New Zealand, and some farmers were losing confidence in the future of the wool industry.

A parallel threat came from new man-made synthetic fibres, often oil-based, which were providing stiff competition in the areas where wool had traditionally triumphed – fashion, carpets and insulation.

And what would the environmental implications be? Wool is one of the most environmentally friendly and sustainable of fibres. At a time when concerns about landfills occupy us all, why on earth were we turning our backs on wool?

These were the issues which provoked the HRH the Prince of Wales into convening a meeting over dinner at Clarence House with a diverse group of stakeholders with a connection to wool – from sheep experts to wool marketeers, wool traders to fashion designers and carpet manufacturers.

Sunday Express – Fabulous Doggy Christmas Gifts

Sunday, November 6th, 2011

LoveMyDog featured in today’s Sunday Express. Their glossy magazine ‘Sunday’ had an article titled ‘Fabulous Christmas gifts to fall in love with’.

Coming in at the top of the pooch page was LoveMyDog with two genuine Harris Tweed products: The Appleby Harris Tweed Pet Carrier and the Pixley Harris Tweed Blanket.

Genuine Harris Tweed

“When I first learnt about the process of genuine Harris Tweed and what it actually entailed I was amazed. There is a fantastic history and heritage of this cloth and I realised how important it was to support and celebrate this. It’s great to respect that process and produce a handmade collection of such a high standard and quality” Lilly Shahravesh, Creative Director of LoveMyDog.

Harris Tweed has been described as “the Champagne of fabrics” and is the only fabric in the world governed by its own Act of Parliament. Genuine Harris Tweed must be made from pure virgin wool. This wool is both dyed and spun on the Hebridean Islands, before being hand woven at the home of the weaver.

Today, Harris Tweed is the only hand woven fabric produced in commercial quantities. The yarn production process uses specially blended yarns produced to secret recipes and then warped before being sent to weavers homes to be hand woven by means of skills which have been handed down from generation to generation. The cloth is then returned to the mill to be finished to very high standards and the final stage in the process is examination and certification by the Independent Harris Tweed Authority.

So if you want to spoil your pooch this Christmas, make sure your your dog couture purchases are properly certified by Harris Tweed.

Say hello to Charlie

Monday, October 31st, 2011

This month we enjoyed a visit from Charlie. She’s a gorgeous Bichon Frise with bags of star quality. (Rabbit was really rather smitten). Her owners couldn’t decide between the Rivington (bottom right) or the Hartwist Collection (top left) so they left with both and a Wilmot Sweater as well.

Dixie is a Duchess at Heart

Thursday, October 20th, 2011

Here is the gorgeous Dixie who was the first to wear our new Pixley Harris Tweed collection. Pixley is made from Genuine Harris Tweed that is exclusive to LoveMyDog. Lilly’s inspiration behind the Pixley Harris Tweed collection is the Duchess of Devonshire from Chatsworth House.

Located in the beautiful rolling hills of Derbyshire, Chatsworth House is one of England’s finest country estates and also a favourite of Lilly’s. Dixie is a duchess at heart and with the new Pixley collection, now has the aristocratic wardrobe to match!

Say hello to Rocco

Monday, October 3rd, 2011

Just my cup of tea! I love it when other dogs pop in to the studio, especially when they’re as cute as my pal Rocco. He’s so tiny that Lilly has a special coat pattern just for him. Here he is in Appleby hat, coat and carrier from the new LoveMyDog A/W collection. In the other photo he’s wearing his fave Wilmot dog sweater in the new Sidworth pet carrier. Great to see you Rocco. Love Rabbit.

Cord blimey! Here’s the new Spencer collection dog coat in orange corduroy being brought to life. Of course, as studio muse, yours truly gets to try it on first – it’s a dog’s life.

October collection – photo story of our new Limited Edition Liberty Prints

Saturday, October 1st, 2011

Here’s me, swanning around the studio, watching the Liberty Print Limited Edition ‘Swanfield’ collection being cut out ready to be made into bandanas, collars, leads and other lovely stuff. It’s only available in October 2011 and then it’s gone forever.

LoveMyDog on BBC Radio

Thursday, September 29th, 2011

Hats off to Molly and Matilda wearing their new hats from the Spencer Collection. Lilly went off to the BBC London Studios last week and met them plus their owners, presenters Joanne Good and Anna Webb. These fab pics appeared on Facebook afterwards – so glad you like your new kit, girls. Love Rabbit.
